Introduction to Best Practices in Online Facilitation
Given the needs so many schools currently have around online learning, Relay Professional Education has launched Introduction to Best Practices in Online Facilitation, an interactive two-hour workshop on tips, tools and resources needed to lead effective and engaging instruction online. We focus specifically on community building, strong engagement practices and the basics of virtual design in this foundational session. This workshop is great for school leaders, teacher-leaders, and anyone who wants to get a sense of what strong synchronous teaching practices look like and pick up some key tips on implementation. We offer the session both as an open-enrollment as well as directly to schools, districts or charter networks.

ABOUT OUR APPROACH
We believe that Zoom, Google Suites, and Nearpod are preferred platforms for live synchronous learning and feel confident in recommending them as such. If you are using platforms other than Zoom and Nearpod, much of the material will still be applicable, and we’re open to consulting with you on how to best leverage the platforms with which you’re working.

While our sessions are relevant for anyone teaching online, generally the methods we use are best suited to upper elementary and beyond as opposed to the youngest students. We’d recommend focusing on teachers/leaders 3rd/4th grade and up or previewing this for your younger grade teachers and debriefing with them after to discuss how to apply the best practices.
