The Relay Approach
Since Relay Atlanta opened its doors in 2018, we have made it a priority to go above and beyond when advising our educators. For example, we provide additional office hours, observations, and certification support. We also work with local partners to attract, retain, teach, and sustain male educators of color. To that end we have developed affinity groups as well as a database of resources to ensure the success and continued growth of this group of needed educators. Elementary Education is the most popular content area at Relay Atlanta (Every year over half of our entering class has this as a major). while Special Education is a growing field of study. The values of excellence, well-being, and DEI create the foundation of our campus.
Faculty
Relay has nearly 140 experienced, supportive faculty across our campuses. Here is one example of a faculty member who teaches and advises our Georgia students:
Education exists to bring forth that which is within each of us, to help us grow into beings that have agency in our own lives, that have and make choices to further society and creatively contribute to the world.
- Ashonna Tubbs, Program Director of the Teaching Residency
Ashonna Tubbs is the Program Director of the Teaching Residency and an Assistant Professor of Practice at the Georgia Campus of Relay Graduate School of Education. She earned her MSEd in School Leadership from the University of Pennsylvania and is committed to expanding equitable opportunities for students by supporting and equipping teachers to foster in all children the sense of agency, academic acumen, and self-awareness necessary to lead a choice-filled life.
