Professional Learning as a Path to Exit Turnaround: Pueblo SD60 and Relay
In 2017 Pueblo School District 60 was struggling with a common challenge: ensuring students were on track to graduate high school ready to pursue the path of their choosing. Along with 36 other districts, Pueblo SD 60 (located about 100 miles south of Denver, Colorado) was identified for participation in the state’s Empowering Action for School Improvement (EASI) grant program for low-performing districts and schools.
Through that grant, Relay Graduate School of Education partnered with Pueblo SD 60 to focus coaching and training at the district-level and at three schools in particular. After a five year partnership, educators report better working conditions for teaching and learning, and student outcomes are on the rise.
