Strategic Storytelling: Ideas to Help Principals Plan for a Great Next Year

January 9, 2024

Dr. Ben Klompus

Hosts a 20 minute District Administration "EdTalk"

The middle of the school year is the ideal time to create next year’s strategic plan.

The key to success is seeing the planning process as not just a “to-do” but as an opportunity to tell a story—about where your school has been and where it’s going, with a clear path to helping students achieve extraordinary outcomes. This is even more true when you are supporting multiple principals in this process.

In this 20-minute EdTalk webinar hosted by the news outlet District Administration, experienced leadership coach Dr. Ben Klompus explores how to use strategic storytelling in your annual planning process. Using examples drawn from his work with real school systems, Dr. Klompus covers how to:

  • Gather the right data and feedback from your school community
  • Find your focus, and use it to energize your team
  • Incorporate stakeholder input to craft a compelling school story
  • Turn that plan into real action
  • And, how district leaders can support principals in the strategic planning process
