ABC24 in Memphis Highlights Relay Teachers' Work
Rochelle Solomon and Jerelyn Carmichael are new teachers in Memphis-Shelby County Schools, and graduate students at Relay. In the midst of a teacher shortage and rapid changes to education brought on by the pandemic, these two women stepped up to become teachers - and are feeling positively about their work in the classroom.
One thing that Ms. Solomon says she has learned how to do: "“Instead of the child adapting to how I teach, I adapt to way that the students learns." She felt that her graduate work at Relay was essential to getting there: "The lesson plans that they taught us, the role playing, and scenarios are amazing.”
