Last weekend more than 200 school leaders—including principals, principal fellows, superintendents, department chairs, and curriculum coordinators—traveled to New York City to participate in the National Principals Academy Fellowship (NPAF) March intersession.
NEWARK, NJ– March 3, 2015 – Newark Public Schools (NPS) today announced a partnership with the Relay Graduate School of Education (GSE) naming it a district-approved program. This recognition will encourage Newark District teachers to participate in Relay’s new one-year Program of Effective Teachers to advance their teaching skills.
The Relay Memphis site will be led by Founding Dean Michelle Armstrong, a lifelong member of the Memphis community and former teacher and principal in the city’s public schools. Dean Armstrong joins Relay from Insight Education Group, where she helped to lead Shelby County Schools’ teacher effectiveness training for school leaders and instructional coaches.
We hope you like the new Relay.edu. We’ve sought to improve the experience for both web and mobile visitors to this site, while also providing richer and more relevant information for our applicants, partners, donors and others interested in our mission.
In the coming weeks and months, we’ll be implementing additional improvements. We’re particularly excited about rolling out an improved navigation bar, scheduled to launch in early 2015, that will help students, faculty, and staff more quickly navigate to key Relay sites directly from this site.
Relay is thrilled to celebrate the release of a new, free iOS math game for students called Impoppable.
Impoppable is a math game designed for kids ages 8-12 that builds skills including automaticity and flexibility with key facts. The user pops bubbles by creating multiplication and division equations. It’s simple, highly addictive—just ask the Relay staff members who can’t put it down—and fun!
In 2010, Doug Lemov's Teach Like a Champion quickly became an international bestseller that would revolutionize how teachers refine their craft. Lemov, who teaches instruction and school leadership at Relay and is Managing Director at Uncommon Schools, painstakingly detailed 49 techniques that put students on the path to college. Two years later, Lemov co-authored Practice Perfect, which described how everyone, and especially educators, can improve their performance through relentless and deliberate practice.
At the Relay Graduate School of Education, technology isn’t just part of the learning experience. It’s at the very heart of it.
With our online course modules, our use of video in real-world classrooms, and our partnership with Coursera, we’re re-imagining how in-person teacher training can blend seamlessly with graduate-level online learning.
