The Relay Delaware MAT program is designed to accommodate the demanding schedules of full-time teachers. We deliver instruction in a hybrid format so that the graduate students have flexibility to complete large portions of the coursework when it is most convenient for their schedules.
In addition to online coursework, teachers will attend regular in-person sessions, including:
- A one-week summer session before the first and second years of the program;
- September - June: Two to three weeknight sessions each month (live, online classroom), for content-specific teaching instruction;
- September - June: One Saturday session each month; and
- One 3 hour Deliberate Practice session weekly.
Relay has three terms each year (summer, fall, and spring).
RELAY DELAWARE ADMISSIONS & CERTIFICATION REQUIREMENTS
In addition to the standard Relay Teaching Residency admissions and certification requirements, participants in the Relay Teaching Residency: Delaware program must meet the following campus-specific admissions and certification requirements.
Relay Delaware works closely with school partners in Delaware to support teaching Residents.
We’re particularly interested in applicants who graduated from Delaware schools and want to teach at their alma maters. Applicants must secure a resident position at one of Delaware’s partner schools in order to be eligible to apply to the Relay Teaching Residency.
The Relay Teaching Residency: Delaware program provides a pathway for alternate route licensure. Eligible applicants may receive a Delaware Standard Certificate by completing this program and satisfying additional certification requirements.
Check back in Spring 2020 for the Delaware Certification Highlights guide for information about certification requirements and a timeline of key milestones.
Please note that certification steps occur prior to admission, during the program, and upon completion of the program. Failure to pass certification exams and meet other certification criteria may result in loss of your teaching position and/or removal from the Relay Teaching Residency.
