Designed for Busy Teachers
The Relay Delaware MAT program is designed to accommodate the demanding schedules of full-time teachers. We deliver instruction in a hybrid format so that the graduate students have flexibility to complete large portions of the coursework when it is most convenient for their schedules.
In addition to online coursework, teachers will attend regular in-person sessions, including:
- A one-week summer session before the first and second years of the program;
- September - June: Two to three weeknight sessions each month (live, online classroom), for content-specific teaching instruction; and
- September - June: One Saturday session each month.
Relay has three terms each year (summer, fall and spring).
RELAY DELAWARE ADMISSIONS & CERTIFICATION REQUIREMENTS
In addition to the standard MAT admissions and certification requirements, participants in the Delaware MAT program must meet campus-specific admissions and certification requirements.
The Relay Delaware MAT program provides a pathway for alternate route to certification. Graduate students pursuing alternate route to certification complete the same coursework as those not pursuing certification, but they must also meet additional requirements for admission and program completion.
To be eligible to apply to the program, candidates must be employed by a Delaware school or district.
Additionally, all certification-seeking applicants must:
- have earned 24-credit hours in the content area they seek to teach, OR;
- have earned a passing score on the Praxis II content exam aligned to certification area.
Please note that certification steps occur prior to admission, during the program, and upon completion of the program. Failure to pass certification and licensure exams and meet other certification criteria may result in loss of your teaching position and/or dismissal from Relay.
Check back in Spring 2020 for the Delaware Certification Highlights guide for information about certification requirements and a timeline of key milestones.
